Energy Efficiency Courses
Changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, which came into effect in April 2005, mean that gas boilers fitted in both new and existing dwellings should be A or B rated high efficiency condensing boilers. They should be installed by a ‘competent person’ registered with a regulatory body or signed off by the building control department of the local authority.
Therefore all installers wishing to certify their own work rather than paying Building Control must, under Gas Safe legislation, hold a certificate in Energy Efficiency for domestic heating. This certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete our Energy Efficiency course. The course contents include:
- Welcome & Introduction
- Why it is important and the need to adopt energy efficient measures
- How much carbon dioxide (CO2) is produced using different fuels
- The combustion process
- Different types of boilers and how they work
- The different types of hot water storage systems & explanation of the elements of high efficiency system specification
- Controls
- Energy saving devices

- Commissioning
This is just a one day course which consists of a PowerPoint presentation followed by a short written exam. After booking a place
on the course, participants are sent a revision pack to study in
advance.
